I can honestly say that my life has changed dramatically with Public Allies. I can continue to use everything I’ve learned anywhere I go in both life and in future job opportunities. We reached out to people from the City of Phoenix to find solutions for some of these problems. The turnout was spectacular.

Prior to Public Allies I was a first-generation college student pursuing my Associate of Arts (AA) degree at Phoenix College, working part-time with the City of Phoenix Head Start and being a mother to my wonderful child. I knew, in order to succeed in what I wanted, I would need a great mentor.

Chicanos Por La Causa was founded in 1969 to confront oppression facing Latinos in Phoenix, Arizona as part of the movement led by Cesar Chavez.

Coordinator & Volunteer Coordinator, ADL Arizona and GLSEN Phoenix. This year alone, Joseph Perez created an entire collaborative program that uses hip hop to teach students about life. Kelly Williams impacted the lives of almost 2,000 students at Camelback High School with her guidance and support.

The 18 students being recognized at the annual graduation celebration will have completed all requirements during the spring, summer, and fall semesters of 2011. ASB is a great opportunity for college students who choose to spend their spring breaks volunteering in communities across the country. Since 2006, nearly 2,000 students have participated in ASB, volunteering over 64,000 hours of service. Shelina had no response. Its a pretty good question, right?
