I'm using some traditional ways to research this topic: -Email to listservs -Posts on online forums -Google search. Over the years I've done a lot of Internet-based research projects and I think it is time for me to do a little rethinking of how to incorporate the social web into this process. re not searching alone.

Now, I swear I remember seeing something from Easter Seals or another nonprofit on a listserv that mentioned either social networking policy or blogging policy. interest that staff and volunteers understand the responsibilities in discussing Easter Seals in the public square known as the World Wide Web. Be Responsible. Include Links.

Some possible uses: I put this out on the SalesForce Nonprofit Practitioners listserv. I'm working on a screencast and it might be excellent way to do research or share implicit geek shoudlder-to-shoulder knowledge across the Internet. It is also very search engine friendly, degrades gracefully, can be used in valid HTML and XHTML 1.0

The artifacts are reaccessioned, the labels (hopefully) recycled, but what happens to the knowledge? NSF requires grant applicants to build on prior knowledge--where do you get it? The other thing we found early on is that the profiles pop up very high on a google search for a person's name. That's all very deliberate.

Where do nonprofit leaders, managers, volunteers, donors, and other stakeholders go when searching for information pertinent to their roles? The Chronicle of Philanthropy , Nonprofit Times , Social Innovation Review , and Nonprofit Quarterly are a few industry specific publications that are considered "go to" sources of knowledge.
