Next week I'm doing a Webinar for Extension Professionals , a remix of 10 Steps to Association 2.0 which was a remix of Marnie Webb 's Ten Ways Nonprofits Can Change the World. My initial remix thought (wrong) was to look for examples that were related to agriculture, but the extension is so much more. I'm nervous. It's messy.

They are going to participate in the next round , "The Big Idea" where the 100 charities share their big idea for changing the world and get votes. The winner gets $1 million and five finalists will receive $100,000. As of this writing, 1,027,398 people joined Chase’s fan page to cast votes for their favorite charities.

(I voted for the Red Cross in honor my colleague Wendy Harman) Ever since the first online competition launched in December 2006 by Network for Good and Yahoo (ahem, I came in first for my charity, the Sharing Foundation ), online contests have been a popular way for corporations, Web 2.0 companies, and even foundations to give away money.

Last year, when I turned 51, I posted a challenge on my blog - could I get 51 people to donate $10 to the Sharing Foundation? For my 50th birthday, I held a 50th Birthday Card Photo Remix Contest on flickr and donated $50 the winner's favorite charity. And, yes they did ! But it doesn' t always have to be you asking people to donate.

This can take place in a variety ways, including brown bag lunches "Facebook Friday," presenting examples from other organizations experiences, sharing market research data about consumer trends and social media. I hope they share a case study about all this! #3. The important thing is having the conversation. and what you can achieve.
