Basically, it allows one computer to serve several people in a lab or library at very low cost and with minimum maintenance. Burlington Public Library was one of our test installation sites. It is a medium-sized library about 60 miles north of Seattle in northern Washington State. However, it creates problems.

Basically, it allows one computer to serve several people in a lab or library at very low cost and with minimum maintenance. La Conner Regional Library was one of our test sites. It is a small, rural library that serves 5,000 people in the Skagit Valley in northern Washington State. She became the library tech person by default.

Jim walked out of there with four refurbished laptops preloaded with Windows Multipoint Server and 16 NComputing thin clients. software solution that allows one computer to serve several people in a lab, library, or school at very low cost. Interconnection supplied: One refurbished i7 laptop. Three refurbished i5 laptops.

Through organizations like Tech Impact and TechSoup , these online services are being offered at a significant discount to nonprofits, charities, libraries, and private foundations. The big advantage of a virtual desktop is that the environment is controlled. This translates into fewer problems in managing them and lower support costs.

On Tuesday, I'll be talking about technology planning for nonprofits and public libraries at the National Conference on Volunteering and Service as a part of the Interactive Strategy Forum. Maybe some of those constituents are on the laptop of an employee who works remotely and can't connect to the CRM. She's great.
