From time to time I will pull up a user profile to monitor what folks are doing in Salesforce since I have feeds turned on for Accounts and Opportunities, but that's about it. I posted on-topic comments in Groups and posted to profiles.

Wikis: What, When, Why

The participatory "ask" is high--to create original content. Wikis don't explicitly acknowledge individuals with "profile power"--content is prioritized, not identity. Wikis work best in situations in which content, not socializing, is primary. Wikis are great for documenting events with many parallel content tracks.
