I left the classroom in 2007 to join Teach For America staff where I pioneered graduate school recruitment for the organization through May of this year. I taught in the Bronx for two years through Teach For America while working toward my M.A. in General Childhood Education at Bank Street College of Education.

For my 50th birthday, I held a 50th Birthday Card Photo Remix Contest on flickr and donated $50 the winner's favorite charity. If you're a blogger, you can run a comment for a donation contest. Last year, when I turned 51, I posted a challenge on my blog - could I get 51 people to donate $10 to the Sharing Foundation?

Do this before before a classroom blogging project or external organizational blog which is more visible. Tagging helps found things stay found as well as facilitate the wisdom of the group. Examples include Creative Commons Swag Contest and Fight Hunger Video Contest. Del.icio.us work for each assignment.

This gallery has always been tough for exhibitions--it serves as a pass-through to the classroom, and during evening events, people pour through it on their way to and from classroom activities.
