I was able to pull this off because my course took place in the Digital Learning Commons “ D-Space ” – a state of the art flexible classroom space. Classroom style with desks puts a barrier between the students and the instruction, especially when people are using laptops or tablets to take notes.

The key takeaway for me is the whole point about the need for new metrics to measure learning from games. This is the same conversation that is happening around web metrics versus blog metrics. If you use web site metrics to evaluate the success of your blog, they don't work for a lot of reasons.

This morning I attended the MacArthur Foundation Digital Learning briefing that was taking place at the Natural History Museum in NYC. Learning is happening outside of school and it needs to be understood better.
