I attended a meeting at the SLTechSoup Office, a discussion forum on Avatar Marketing hosted by Harvard Berkman Center , and visited a donation site for the Make A Wish Foundation. Then I teleported off to the Berkman Center discussion on Avatar Marketing. It is like sending a personal email to the entire listserv by mistake.

TechSoup holds regular meetings for nonprofits in Second Life and I have been attending regularly and sometimes facilitate like this I did this past week. So, I've been reflecting about effective facilitation of virtual meetings in Second Life Right now the primary method of group interaction is via unmoderated chat interface.

Over fifty avatars attended. I attended a lecture on the use of technology in the legal classroom last month in Second Life, facilitated by Rebecca Nesson. And, while, I'm not a lawyer, the discussion was so relevant to technology adoption/change issues and it Rebecca was a damn good virtual facilitator. I learned a lot.

My social marketing colleague Craig Lefebvre, who has a blog ( On Social Marketing and Social Change ), asked me to expand some comments I had made on the Social Marketing Listserve as a guest blogger.
