Seb Chan has a lovely, long interview up at Fresh+New with Helen Whitty about the Powerhouse Museum's new mini-exhibition, the Odditoreum. The Odditoreum is another wrinkle in the study of visitors' understanding and interpretation of authenticity in museums. I enjoyed listening to it (virtually, not at the museum).

Ed Rodley recently wrote a blog post about museum jobs entitled "Getting Hired: It's Who You Know and Who Knows You." hour at the Museum. I made $26/hour at NASA and $7.25/hour

They edit the conversations into radio shows, which are then made available as a podcast (you can listen to episode featuring me, #89: Museum Secrets, here ). I still get fidgety listening to the podcast, but now I see it as an artifact of a supremely conducted participatory project rather the sole product of the process.

I’ve long admired Improv Everywhere , the NYC-based participatory public art group. I particularly like the MP3 experiments , events at which Improv Everywhere distribute an audio file to people for free as a podcast.

This week, I was surprised to look at my podcast list on iTunes and see a new episode of RadioLab. And that makes it feel much more participatory. Turns out it isn't a true episode, but an excerpt from a talk that the cohosts gave earlier this year on the making of RadioLab. They make radio a discussion, not a tutorial.

This week, I listened to the new podcast episode of Radiolab , my favorite NPR show. The podcast featured the two hosts, Robert Krulwich and Jad Abumrad, speaking to a crowd about their unique partnership. Radiolab does what I hope all great museum exhibitions can do--take a deep topic and make it compelling on many levels.
