In other words, that you can monetize the process of engagement. Get granular - figure how how many unique visits a particular blogger sent, a Facebook Event, or Digg. . It also refers to the reach of your content/story - the process of spreading word-of-mouth referrals or sparking new and related conversation threads.

Danielle Brigida from NWF presented a case study on Digg and StumbleUpon. It took her 7 months to establish relationships in the Digg community sufficiently to get good results (ie, popular stories).
