For the last time this summer, I'm sharing a chapter from my new book The Art of Relevance to celebrate its release. This chapter, from the last section of the book, is very personal to me. One of the nonprofits that inspires me locally here in Santa Cruz is a youth empowerment and food justice organization called "Food, What!?"

Because it was my first time meeting the students, part of the half hour was spent getting to know each other. I highly recommend volunteering with young people, whether they are as little as a kindergartner, or as old as a college student. Today, 826 has chapters in New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, Seattle, Michigan, and Boston.
