I liked a couple party ideas from their site: A treasure hunt where everything the guests find is donated to a children's hospital. A green themed party where guests can plant seeds to take home and grow. All of the gifts are pooled to purchase one gift, and one donation to a cause for the birthday boy or girl.

So, the Sharing Foundation has continued to use our method of getting donated laptops in the US, refurbishing them, and getting them to Cambodia. Even better, the green laptops would match the video blogging kits that Ryanne Hodson and Jay Dedman brought over the month before I brought the same kits to the Cambodian Bloggers Summit.

Thanks to wonderful organizations like Kiva , and the ONE Campaign , people are becoming more aware of the huge difference a small loan, or donation to an international organization can make to purchase a net to prevent malaria, or help a family start a business. Donate your gently used goods year round.

Thing is, you can sign petitions, make donations, organize rallies, and spread the word about do-good things all you want, but if you're not being kind to the people around you, are you really a changemaker? I lose my patience, and sometimes I get angry. It said, "The finest pleasure is kindness to others--Jean de la Bruyère."

Marsha Wallace, the founder of Dining for Women , contacted me after reading some of the posts I had written about Dining for Women here and on BlogHer , and invited my husband and I to be Dining for Women's guest at the event.
