That's my avatar with a fez I pocked up in Virtual Morocco in Second Life, a student project! I've been curious what a virtual Angkor Wat or other cultural wonders of the world look like in Second Life? How could explore culture in a virtual environment as a learning experience that is connected to a real life experience?

STAND UP Events are happening all over the world, including Second Life. Second Life residents who Stand Up will be counted towards the Guinness World Record Attempt. There is a Kiosk in various places in Second Llife, including TechSoup's office at Information Island. You also get a T-Shirt!

The online platform has two parts: a website , where all projects originate, and a Second Life presence ("The Tech" in Second Life), where participants can communicate in real-time, share ideas, and build virtual prototypes. I know that Second Life can be a clunky, frustrating experience.

I had a healthy second life as a slam poet, and I loved the world of artists and performance. I learned about game design, theme park design, video production, script-writing, show programming, and air compressors, working with cranks and fire marshals and brilliant folks of all kinds.
