If a few dozen dead trees could cause so much grief, imagine living in a place where whole forests are being clearcut, coral reefs bleached, or entire species threatened. Rather, the incident demonstrated just how affected we are by something as simple as a chopped down tree (some citizens were so angry they threatened city officials).

After Mongolia, Namibia is the least densely populated country in the world. What's really interesting is how Namibia is approaching the huge infrastructure problem of providing broadband in places that don’t have much basic electricity yet. It has a population of just over 2 million in an area considerably larger than Texas.

“I want to feed all the hungry children from here to the frosty, wind-swept steppes of distant Mongolia” is a worthy goal, but “I want to raise $5,000 to help feed the kids at the local homeless shelter” is a more realistic (and achievable) one. Help them set up and manage their campaign.

I have one in Mongolia. The two of us went to a local hospital during a cancer expo, and we basically, for lack of a better word, we hijacked the place. We knew that would be the perfect place. I would love for the world to ultimately be a truly kind and loving place, but I'm one person, so I can only do so much.
