In 2007, I realized that a much more effective way to aggregate interesting actions would be to subscribe to RSS feeds from trusted sources. I wrote about the potential for aggregating RSS feeds of giving opportunities in a blog post called, Why We Need Group Fundraising RSS Feeds.

Photo by Andy Field I think Chris Brogan said that the secret to Twitter is listening (or search), not blasting your message out. How many feeds? This is a listening project and you'll be "searching" as well as participating. Use Twitter Search or one of the other Twitter search clients. I'm paraphrasing.

Entrants built useful applications incorporating at least one data feed from Data.gov , in an effort to make government data accessible and usable. Over 1,500 mashups later, and a first prize win in the contest, DataMasher is proving to be a great experiment in data transparency. Our entry was not only fun, but useful -- a bonus!

While google and yahoo have blog search features, Technorati is the considered the recognized authority on tracking blogs, It finds out who is saying what right now and is currently tracking over 75.2
