He was there for about a month, and then war in Congo was breaking out. Now 26, Erickson is still FORGE's Executive Director. It had been bombed.

Increasingly, rape of women is being used as a tool of war, not just in large scale wars as we saw in the Serbian and Bosnian conflict, but as we saw recently in Kenya and in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. I think my comment in The Nation was really more about that. I think that is what really motivates me to do this work.
