This morning I attended the MacArthur Foundation Digital Learning briefing that was taking place at the Natural History Museum in NYC. The MacArthur Foundation announced that it will be funding a five-year $50 million initiative, mostly for research, to try to understand how young people are using digital media and its impact learning.

The key takeaway for me is the whole point about the need for new metrics to measure learning from games. Mentioned recent studies about taking laptops out of the classroom and there is a problem with using old metrics and it is important to look for new metrics and rethink learning environments in general.
