I recently learned about an nonprofit organization in India dedicated to using video to help alleviate poverty and accelerate social change in the developing world. In looking at some of the project examples , I found several that focus on women's empowerment and rights in India. The organization is called Video Volunteers.

Early last year my colleague Noel Dickover and his co-workers at PeaceTech Lab organized a workshop in Mumbai, India to help activists use technology and media to prevent gender based violence. These young girls are growing up in the Dharavi neighborhood of Mumbai India, one of the largest slums in the world. The Tech Girls of Dharavi.

After finishing a four-day intensive training in Delhi for the Networked NGO , I stayed on a few days in India to visit colleague, Rufina Fernandez, who I met when she was the CEO of the Nasscom Foundation when she brought me to India to speak at the leadership conference and teach workshops back in 2010. The man denied it and left.

I felt an emptiness inside, as a woman, that I wasn't hearing from the teachers that I wanted to about world issues. It had hit India. The women are day after day documenting that healing process in their online journals, in their online blog. Well, first, it started for me at a young age as a young woman.
