Yahoo Messenger Avatars , "Your Yahoo! Messenger Avatar has a huge wardrobe of clothes to choose from. Examples: For World AIDS Day, avatars wore shirts with red ribbons and for Breast Cancer Awareness month they wore shirts with pink ribbons. Examples: Climate Concern's Group and the ONE Campaign's Groups.

This campaign was a community-generated effort - spearheaded by Connie Reece and came from people who knew of Susan Reynolds fight with breast cancer and rallied behind her. His Tweet-a-thon raised over $5,000 for his charity on Twitter. This was the first time I observed the use of "retweeting" a fundraising message.
