Now we’re going to look at the next step, and what some people might consider why any volunteer is really there: getting the volunteer up to speed on their specific role, and duties within that role. If it’s possible to introduce people from these areas, all the better.

Our first Impact Lab cohort designed Service Match , an open-source app designed for case managers who connect people experiencing homelessness to vital human services. Today, people of color and low-income communities are more likely to be impacted by natural disasters, live close to hazardous waste, and die of environmental causes.

This hackathon took place at San Francisco State University's Paul J. The challenges included connecting African farmers to markets, creating an online networking space for women veterans, mapping Africa’s natural resources, and a few others. The concept is that people can tweet the @bicyclerack Twitter account.
