The crusade for digital inclusion, an undertaking still well underway here in the United States and throughout the developed world, is also alive well in rural regions of Africa. As discussed in a recent report from Jim Lynch at Techsoup, the NGO MyDigitalBridge just recently started its work in the mostly rural nation of Namibia.

I've just returned from organizing an electronics recycling conference in Cape Town, South Africa, where I met Dr. Hylton Villet, the chairman of MyDigitalBridge in Namibia. Namibia is a medium-sized country that borders South Africa. It's located on the southwest Atlantic coast of Africa. An NGO with A National Mandate.

Also, developing countries like Egypt, South Africa, Mexico/Latin America, and India report plans to move to the cloud faster than everywhere else. While a lot of NGOs are using at least one cloud-based application, deeper use of cloud tools is relatively low. What Didn't Surprise Me.

What we heard was that our colleagues in Africa really needed support around water. In Africa, we're running capacity-building trainings, and supporting women in launching sustainable businesses, and viable projects, to bring clean water to their communities. Women's Earth Alliance launched a Women and Water Initiative.
