Nonprofits were the early adopters of social networks. The were active on Myspace, YouTube, and creating Facebook Groups long before most of the companies that are often praised for being the pioneers of social media. One of the reasons was that social networks were free to join and lacked monthly fees.

Thousands of nonprofits haven’t logged into their MySpace profiles in months, or even a year or more. That said, MySpace is not dead. Age, class, race, and location play a huge role in who uses what social networking sites. I created the Nonprofit Organizations MySpace in 2006. They want a human behind the avatar.

Similar to the early days of Myspace and its users mastering HTML hacks and widgets, Snapchat has an equally dedicated user base of young people that pride themselves on becoming skilled at Lenses, Filters, Stickers, and other Snapchat tips, tricks, and hacks. We have entered a new era of social media marketing.
