One number can doom a nonprofit’s fundraising efforts before they even begin. Guidestar recommends that nonprofits spend less than 20 percent of their budget on overhead, which includes administrative and fundraising costs. That sounds simple in theory, but how do you go about doing that? The Overhead Issue. Is it fair?
