Here are a few examples of some month-long and two-week long online events: Maw Books Blog ran a Blogging and Reading for Darfur campaign last month. For the month of September, Natasha Maw read and blogged in an effort to create awareness, and raise funds for Darfur. She read 31 books and raised $1,1136.60.

Perhaps it is because my generation was raised reading The Diary of Anne Frank and watching dozens of movies about the Holocaust. My friend and colleague, Adam Sterling, was a 21-year-old student at UCLA when he first heard about the genocide in Darfur, and then he was outraged and decided he had to act.
