There is so much happening in Second Life with nonprofits, educational institutions, museums, and libraries that it is hard to keep up. The amazing Wayne MacPhail has been helping the Alzheimer Society of Ontario and Second Life Library 2.0 curator Shadow Fugazi put together a photo exhibition in Second Life.

Last Sunday, I drove like a bat out of hell from my Sharing Foundation board meeting in New Hampshire to my computer so I could log in to the RootsCampSL session on "U sing Machinima for Social Change and Political Action." And the good news is that if you've never created web videos before and don't have the big bucks to hire a professional, there is enough time to learn. Machinima, derived from the words ??? The Museum of the Moving Image is hosting the 2006 Machinima Festival this weekend in NYC. Although I could participate via Second Life.

When people talk about museum projects in Second Life and other virtual worlds, I'm often disappointed by the short-sightedness of the vision. It's a machinima (video) by Robbie Dingo, a 3D recreation of Van Gogh's Starry Night. Maybe someone once watched Vincent creating the original and felt the same way.
