Jim walked out of there with four refurbished laptops preloaded with Windows Multipoint Server and 16 NComputing thin clients. Energy Conservation Is a Requirement in Africa. Computers are a centerpiece of the school, but they needed super-energy-efficient technology to conserve the scarce electricity. and was off to Tanzania.

When you discard a five-pound laptop, you are also throwing away the 20,000 pounds of raw materials it took to make it.
