Bringing skilled volunteers together in person with passionate and integrated local organisations around the world was how V2I worked towards their mission of helping global communities break the cycle of poverty. We developed stronger relationships within our team and across regions — even as we collaborated on this project from our homes.

That’s particularly true of big picture organizational purpose. A student works on a coding challenge at Computer Science Education Week with Salesforce employees in Dublin, Ireland. With nearly 1,800 local offices in more than 40 countries, the United Way specializes in bringing people together to identify and solve local issues.

Whenever we talk about people love people, we like to put ourselves out of the picture. I mean, if you don’t know her, go to sign up for VidaJoven DeMexico, her orphanage and just read her newsletters, and read her e-mails, and read her website, and look at her pictures. We send each other pictures. I just love her.

"[T]hose of us who take pictures, even for our own personal trips, and share those pictures with friends, because we have that skill, also have an obligation to help people understand each other more completely. PG: I think that the one that comes to mind first is a wonderful picture of women in Kenya who are growing corn.
