TechSoup partnered with agencies like USAID and tech companies like Microsoft and Yahoo to host these "tech for good" challenges annually via our NetSquared program.

Ushahidi, an open source project originally deployed in Kenya to report post-election violence has since been downloaded and deployed for many other events and disasters, including Haiti, Chile, and Japan. Another great example is Epic Change.

For example, in post-earthquake Haiti, Dd trained and empowered local women to track and document incidents of gender-based violence. " Digital Democracy (Dd) was a prize winner in that challenge.
