It's Friday, it's summer, it's raining - okay that's my set of excuses for spending a little bit of time in Second Life today. I attended a meeting at the SLTechSoup Office, a discussion forum on Avatar Marketing hosted by Harvard Berkman Center , and visited a donation site for the Make A Wish Foundation. Except for two things.

But wanted to capture some quick thoughts related to a couple of recent awareness raising activities taking place in Second Life or recently launched. I'm so grateful that other bloggers and colleagues like Rik Riel do such excellent coverage of what's happening in Second Life. Namely that it isn't enough just to shame people.

Right now there's a group of us trying to do some action learning about how to facilitate virtual collaborative work and learning in Second Life. To make life easier the boxes will grow bigger and after about an hour they will disappear. The first level is the second life literacy skills - how you move around and communicate.

It's a busy time in Second Life , particularly for libraries, educational institutions, and nonprofit organizations. TechSoup holds regular meetings for nonprofits in Second Life and I have been attending regularly and sometimes facilitate like this I did this past week. So, I've been reflecting about effective facilitation of virtual meetings in Second Life Right now the primary method of group interaction is via unmoderated chat interface.
