You do not need to be an “artist” to make a postcard, but each participant is surprised and delighted by their creativity and to see that their cards contain colors, words and images that reflect their strongest selves. Each card is a piece of art in my mind. Yet, I wanted to be that artist and still do.

They launched an annual fundraiser and gift-collecting drive for the children's hospital in their community (in WA). It was a huge success and it's now become an international drive , with toys and books going to children's hospitals all over. Free Books for Kids!

I could point to the Haiti disaster as the tipping point in cell phones -- for the increased engagement with donors, and more importantly, for the contributions of information from survivors. We should not take this lightly, but rather approach it with "beginners mind" and be open to the student educating the teacher.
