Apparently, Amazon is now getting push back from publishers, starting with Macmillan, who want them to charge more than $9.99 Macmillan, like other publishers, has asked Amazon to raise the price of electronic books from $9.99 Remember when Apple faced off with NBC over similar issues back in 2007? for e-books. to around $15.

I came away with a much better understanding of the issues they are exploring and certainly did my part to articulate why I support the positions we have. We discussed Chafee, especially in the context of the Amazon text-to-speech brouhaha, and the proposed international treaty that was tabled at the WIPO SCCR meeting in Geneva last month.

Nonprofits struggling to communicate complex issues in 140 characters can benefit from deploying e-books and other long-form content as part of a thoughtful mobile and social media strategy. A well formatted ebook has none of those issues. Unfortunately, there isn't one publication standard that works across all e-readers.
