Arthur Grau of NetSquared Honolulu reported back on the National Day of Civic Hacking/Code for Hawaii event in Honolulu. Another interesting concept was a mobile tech shop for homeless shelters.

The goal was to find the best web or mobile ideas for social projects in Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Serbia. EkoVizija is a mobile app that enables users to take pictures and report environmental problems in their community. This online reporting system is both a website and mobile app.

Nonprofits have needs that can be addressed using mobile technology, particularly with apps or texting services. Essentially, Ohana is a mobile-friendly platform for finding social services. The last app demo was from a former TechSouper, Sameer Siruguri, who is currently developing an app for an Oakland nonprofit, Youth ALIVE!
