But beyond all of the hype and noise, the most dominant theme I keep coming back to is that community is and always will be King. South by Southwest reinforced the true value of connecting like-minded groups in person — particularly in our field. We also "checked in" using FourSquare and Gowalla everywhere. One of the comments on Joe's blog post was from Texans Against Hunger. I thought the author made some good points, and ones "social change techies" would do well to keep in mind. With that in mind, I think social media and social networking hasn't entirely matured as part of long-term social change.
