A few weeks ago, I attended a panel discussion on open government data. The event was presented by Twilio and Open 311 , one of the organizations leading the charge to make government data public, accessible, and usable. I've kind of become an open-data geek in the past few months, largely thanks to NetSquared's unconference at NTC.

As a relative newbie here at Forum One, I wasn't sure what to expect when as I headed to my very first "unconference." Participation, as we discussed it, relates to lowering the barrier to entry for all citizens in government decisions. Here are some additional volunteer service web sites I tracked down after our discussion.

It's a great gathering of policy wonks, transparency advocates, IT geeks in from in and out of government - all excited and busy with shaping a whole new day in how government information will be made more accessible, valuable and transparent. We had about 28 people from a range of organizations - really good discussion ( see notes ).

CongressCamp was an unconference focused on the Congress side of Gov 2.0. The event attracted a breadth of experience, including congressional staffers, public policy specialists, advocacy practitioners, software vendors, and professional service providers.
