Their Tweetsgiving campaigns were fundraisers benefiting Mama Lucy’s school in Tanzania and connected the students to their supporters through Twitter. You may laugh, but I’ve reviewed grantmakers and government funds where that was actually the only criteria, other than going through the process of filling out the application form.

Avi is just back from Tanzania where he and other Epic Change team members were working with the students in the classroom built with last year’s TweetsGiving proceeds. Where do the funds go? People donate to a shared cause in honor of that for which they are most grateful.

Communities on both platforms were clearly not part of the development and communications process, yet they were actively using the platform (for example, a grant from ideablob helped Epic Change implement a technology lab in a school in Tanzania ). If a platform were to disappear, would the community be able to continue on?

He's currently working on an event planner module, which I can see being a huge asset for nonprofits or community organizers, such as organizers of our NetSquared groups. The app is currently being used in Tanzania, but the developers are hoping to deploy it in other countries as well. Goalie for Mission Asset Fund.
