The team members came up with a tool to make the cumbersome process of collecting, transcribing, and cleaning data easier for urban nonprofits and government agencies. The data was compiled using service information from San Francisco homeless organizations. The app also has a built-in survey tool as another means of collecting data.

Through his nonprofit, “ Technology for People ,” he has dedicated his life to girls (and boys) empowerment through technology. The government run “Remand Houses” are shelters for homeless youth who are runaways, orphans, facing domestic violence at home, or too young to go to jail for a crime.

That's where this work really sprung out of in looking at issues of homelessness, looking at issues of women on welfare, and looking at women in prison-- those who were really most affected and most in need of their voices being lifted. Locally, we run a project called the Technology Empowerment Project of Oakland.
