One of my goals for 2011 is to better track the amount of time I spend on social media posting, planning, etc, and measuring that against actual engagement, as measured by: donations (via special source codes) and engagement (comments, reTweets, etc). Are you tracking Return on Investment (ROI), and how? Please summarize your ROI.

Since then, the platform (which is open source ) has been modified for use in South Africa (mapping xenophobic violence), DR Congo , Vote Report India (to monitor the recent local elections) and more. Knowledge will continue to be an issue as well, whether it is knowledge of the issue or location or knowledge of what is really needed.

Free Rice is linked to a sister site, poverty.com, which disseminates information about world hunger and other issues. The level, while compelling, isn't as exciting as the score--which is measured in grains of rice. It's not rocket science--just another variation on the "click to donate" phenomena, which has debated value.

It's one of the hardest things to measure, and it's probably one of the hardest things to do. He ran into Congo. He was there for about a month, and then war in Congo was breaking out. His idea is that he wants to recreate, in reverse, the walk that he made from Sudan all the way through Congo and into Zambia.

The women that we are servicing in Congo, where, if they are lucky, they get $0.20 So, there are lots of tangible results from what we are doing, and that's how we measure our success. We work in countries like Congo, Rwanda, Sudan, Iraq, Afghanistan, Bosnia, Kosovo, among others. That's the story of Women for Women.
