If the event is offline, conduct follow-up online discussion using a simple listserve or a group collaboration tool to keep the lively discussions going.

This is interesting to me because Second Life is quite the opposite - there is a huge investment in learning the tools, there is no audio (although that is changing) and it is all visual. I posted a question on the educator listserv and there doesn't seem to be one. How much does this help or hinder effective collaboration?
