There are digital literacy trainings for women springing up in Bangladesh, Internet cafés for women opening doors in Argentina, and women leaders in Kenya prototyping mobile apps that send out alerts if a woman’s safety is threatened. Hundreds of submissions poured in from 70+ countries as part of our Women Weave the Web Campaign.

When I joined, we were a staff of three, and we're now at 55 in two countries: the US and Argentina. It was, and continues to be, a great crew of people.

I grew up in Buenos Aires Argentina with a German/Argentinean father and a German mother. I am pleased that students who were somewhat limited in their exposure to multiple points of view on issues and culture are now being introduced to them and like this are broadening their horizon.

On the other hand, if a great resource exists but nobody seems to go there, they can try highlighting it in a different way to determine if it was a findability issue or the content just isn't as engaging as they thought. :) This hasn't happened yet in practice, but it's something we're looking at in the future.

Argentina, France, India, or Kenya?&# Jumo was seeded with more than 3,000 issues and groups, but anyone with a social mission can create a page. In the very early days of the website they had visitors answer a series of questions about interests, skills, and cause activities.
