We discussed Chafee, especially in the context of the Amazon text-to-speech brouhaha, and the proposed international treaty that was tabled at the WIPO SCCR meeting in Geneva last month. The hot topic was the proposal made by Brazil, Ecuador and Paraguay, for a global treaty (a treaty for which I was part of the expert drafting team).

So in Spanish, it’s with a J so it would sound an English jajaja, but in English, it’s with an H, but the H in Spanish is silent. So this is me in the Amazon. So I was working in the Amazon for a really long time. I hadn’t lived in the Amazon before. It started only in Brazil. How can I go back?

Have Fun - Do Good

I certainly get inspired by getting to touch and be a part of some of the vast wilderness left on the planet, so the job has allowed me the privilege, which not everyone has, of going to Indonesia, and going to the Amazon in Brazil, and certainly that is fuel that will fill my engine for a very long time.
