The Lavelle Fund exemplifies the tremendous social return that bold philanthropy can create. Twelve years ago, the Fund made its first grant to Benetech, in support of the then newly launched Bookshare , our accessible online library for people with disabilities that get in the way of reading print, including visual impairments and dyslexia.

Andrew has also watched as we have supported Newman University , my alma mater to provide scholarship and other assistance to students. We often carry socks filled with water and energy bars to give to the homeless on Austin’s streets. We also give to our parish. This was a great lesson for the 46-year old in the room.
