At the same time as the patent office is granting business method patents that everyone knows have tons of prior art, they are busy rejecting trademarks, based on who knows what, exactly. Case in point: the organization " Dykes on Bikes " was denied a trademark of their name because the word "dyke" was vulgar.

One of my first jobs in tech 1,000 years ago was as “Text Production Lead” on a music encyclopedia CD-ROM (Google it, kids). However there is immediate value to the partners in the form of a dashboard and metrics for applying for grants, etc. Foundation Center has been working on automating much of this work.
