Our work started by focusing on long term empowerment projects. One of our first programs is our culinary school in Port-Au-Prince, which helps train aspiring chefs from Haiti and give them the skills they need to obtain jobs in Haiti’s growing tourism industry. It was from that experience that World Central Kitchen was born.

It's an amazing act of love really in response to the hurricane and the racial neglect that occurred down on the Gulf. And what I always tell the students that I work with is, number one, stay in community. So we're bringing a lot of elements together, the innerpersonal the activist. Do not isolate. It's so easy.
