It opened up the question of what roles chefs can play in international development. Our work started by focusing on long term empowerment projects. For the past 5 or 6 years we've had a small but steady group of supporters who are primarily invested in our empowerment projects. We're currently active in 10 different countries.

Kind of like what brought you here, what skills and things like that? It's an amazing act of love really in response to the hurricane and the racial neglect that occurred down on the Gulf. And then we're also giving a ton of art skills: dance and hip hop and banner painting and we record a CD every year in a ten-day period.
