Benetech is hiring new Vice Presidents for our Global Literacy and Human Rights programs. Our goal is not to make gobs of money, it’s to make maximum social impact while breaking even. As one of our partners from an LGBT group in Uganda noted last year, “If it isn’t documented, it didn’t happen.”

The context We’ve been supporting the World Blind Union and other groups in the pursuit of a Treaty for the Visually Impaired for the last five or six years. Even though Benetech doesn’t have donor funding for this, our VP of Global Literacy, Betsy Beaumon, and I thought it would be worthwhile to attend this meeting.

My personal goal is to channel the aspirations of the technology community to do more social good. He reads accessible ebooks from Benetech’s Bookshare library in braille format, and learns as quickly as his peers without disabilities. In this update, I’m delighted to be able to share Benetech’s latest efforts to do both.
