The Saskatoon Public Library opened its doors to these evacuees, and staff members stepped up their efforts to help the evacuees communicate with their family and friends. Microsoft's HelpBridge is a free app available on all the major mobile platforms that connects you with friends and family during a disaster such as an earthquake or a hurricane. It also lets you discover and donate to organizations involved in disaster response work, and find opportunities to volunteer. Start using the app.

Unfortunately, this isn't Domino's Pizza and disaster response can't work as if it is. BUT, what if we did invite the public to provide situational awareness such as telling us about the elderly people on a hill? The American Red Cross is now looking into how best to give the public an increased role in disaster response.
