I decided to self-publish The Participatory Museum for four reasons: OPENNESS: I wanted the flexibility to license and distribute the book using an open structure to promote sharing. Also, my whole career is predicated on a structure where I give away ideas on the blog and then people hire me for money. I'm sure I did a lousy job.
