I’m actually quite happy – I can run both Windows 7 and Ubuntu Linux on my laptop, and I like Android (and my Droid 2 phone) a lot. And, of course, using Ubuntu on the desktop is fun. A scary amount of my data (mail, contacts, photos, task lists, calendars, phone etc.) Great web development environment, of course.

August 9, 2007 It’s been 7 weeks of using Ubuntu 7.04 (better known as Feisty Fawn) as my primary desktop. I have no problem getting just about all of my work done using Ubuntu. I’m looking forward to Gutsy Gibbon, Ubuntu 7.10 I figured it was time to give my final assessment. coming out in October.

So, here is a real life example of someone with a measly 195 records in her contacts database. Hopefully with nokia, openmoko, gnome, google, ubuntu, dell and some others, this gap will close. Its the client I use at work, but I have even fewer contacts than you do. I rail against vendors who promote lock-in.
