Erickson founded FORGE (Facilitating Opportunities for Refugee Growth and Empowerment) in 2003 when she was a 20 year-old junior studying public policy at Stanford University. The projects can range from preschools, to libraries and computer training centers, to women empowerment programs.

I've now documented women's lives in 40 countries, over the past 10 or 12 years, and everywhere I went, I found women who were helping each other, local women. Britt Bravo: In so many of the groups you profiled, the women were using the arts for education, empowerment, or healing. I would never ask that question.
