As part of the Transforming Communities project, we had the opportunity to explore apps targeted toward youth as well as apps developed by youth. Our Time (Facebook) is a nonprofit dedicated to youth empowerment through the voting process. Microsoft partnered with Facebook and Washington State to develop the MyVote Facebook app.

One of the nonprofits that inspires me locally here in Santa Cruz is a youth empowerment and food justice organization called "Food, What!?" FoodWhat's staff and teens have taught me a lot about what it really means to be relevant to people who are often overlooked or ignored. Doron doesn’t work with A students or B students.

For the first time, this year's Games for Change Festival created an opportunity for producers of games in development to get live feedback from leading game designers, educators, and funders on the main stage. The empowerment of girls in third world countries is a topic many corporate sponsors are looking to endorse.
